WNY Jr. Law Enforcement Day 2022

September 23rd, 2022
Buffalo, NY

The Boys & Girls Clubs Collaborative of WNY hosted their first Western New York wide Jr. Law Enforcement Day on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo’s annual Jr. Law Enforcement Day began seven years ago with a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo and the New York State Troopers. We had to cancel the event for the last two years due to the pandemic. Summer camp youth enjoy the opportunity to interact one-on-one with Troopers, Sheriff Deputies, Police Officers, First Responders, Boarder Patrol, Coast Guard, Mounted Division, K-9, Underwater Rescue and more. This year we have expanded the event to include the Boys & Girls Clubs from all over Western New York. In addition, we are hosting an Elected Officials Reception and we had government officials from the New York State Governor’s office, Senators, Congressmen, County Officials, New York State Assemblymembers and representatives from the Mayor’s office just to name a few.

This event allows kids from all over Western New York to get up close and personal with representatives from several law enforcement agencies that serve and protect our communities, borders and waterways. The event culminates with 800 kids between the ages of 5 and 12 being sworn in as Jr. Law Enforcement officers by the Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia and Erie County Sherriff John Garcia.

Over 800 smiles, what an amazing day!
